Deanna Granroth
Middle School Teacher
Deanna joined the Lexis middle school team in 2013. While she initially served as the “resident”  language arts, writing, and communication skills teacher, she has more recently become the “Bill Nye” of Lexis.  Deanna’s passion and excitement for teaching science is palpable and students love her Friday science experiments.  She also spearheads the planting of a school garden with her students and plans exciting science related field trip to complement their learning.
Prior to working at Lexis, Deanna worked as a special needs teacher for seven years with middle and high school students. She has experience with students with autism, dyslexia, emotional behavioral disorders, learning disabilities, and Asperger’s.  Deanna loves working with students with special needs-especially celebrating their successes and AHA moments!
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from St. Cloud State, Minnesota and has a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design from the University of Phoenix. Before moving to Scottsdale from her Michigan hometown, Deanna lived in the Harry Potter castle in England, taught in Australia, and was part of a race-car pit crew.
