Admissions Philosophy

Lexis Preparatory has the resources to address the needs of students of average or above-average cognitive ability who have previously not met with success because of their learning differences, attention problems, disorganization, underachievement, or inconsistent motivation.

Our admissions process is set up to ensure that each child's acceptance into and enrollment at the school will benefit both parties: that our school offers what the child needs, and that the environment of our school will be maintained with the addition of the child.

Who Should Attend Lexis Prep?

Lexis Prep admits children ages 5-14 who have one or more of the following:
  • Learning disabilities
  • Difficulties in reading, writing, or math
  • ADHD or ADD
  • Dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia
  • History of underachievement
  • Mild anxiety disorder
  • Mild asperger's syndrome
  • Auditory processing difficulties
  • Low motivation
  • Organizational problems
  • Low self-esteem
  • Prior negative school experiences
  • Educational giftedness

The following circumstances may result in a student not being admitted to Lexis Prep:
  • Below-average cognitive ability
  • A primary diagnosis of autism
  • A history of severe behavioral difficulties, disruptive behavior, physical aggression, and/or conduct difficulties
